Clinic Description
Finger Lakes Occupational Health Services (FLOHS) was established in 1987, as part of the New York State Department of Health Occupational Health Network, to provide high quality occupational medicine services and utilize the public health approach to prevent work-related illnesses and injuries. The clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment as well as the prevention of occupational injury and disease for a nine-county region in the Finger Lakes area. This nine-county region includes: Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates counties. Our multidisciplinary team of professionals works with businesses and workers (and former workers) to provide screenings, treatment, and referrals for employees with occupational illnesses and/or injuries. In addition, we present educational and preventive programs to workers and employers about health and safety issues while on the job.
Our clinic is unique in that we provide preventive services, including industrial hygiene services, and social work services to the community that are not found in other occupational health clinics. Preventive services are a central objective of FLOHS. These services are a means to help us connect with employers and possible future patients and achieve the common goal of improving health and safety in the workplace.
