Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees, accounting for 395 of the 1069 construction fatalities recorded in 2022 (BLS data). 2024 Spirometry Update for Occupational Health Providers

This course is targeted to Occupational Health Providers who are supervising spirometry tests and are interested in improving technical skills and learning about best practices of program management. This course will include didactic lectures and case studies to build knowledge. Topics to be covered include anatomy and physiology related to lung function testing, spirometry measurements, acceptability criteria, repeatability criteria, common errors found during spirometry maneuvers, use of predicted normal values, lower limit of normal, longitudinal analysis of spirometry data, calibration checks, choosing spirometry equipment, and quality assurance and quality control measures.
